Remeta - New Association Created for Virtual Real Estate Worlds

Orlando, FL-- A new real estate association, Real Estate Metaverse Association or Remeta, was founded and created today to promote, educate, and support virtual world real estate. The Founder and President, Corey Leong, will lead the new organization and will develop member services such as a virtual and real world real estate educational tracks, watchdog advisories, housing forecasts, and real estate related tools for virtual worlds.

"The creation of a virtual world association fills a void in the real estate industry," relayed Corey who also founded OpenMLS, the first open multiple listing service. "The National Association of Realtors only covers real world real estate which doesn't include real estate in virtual worlds such as Second Life, Kaneva, and There just to name a few." "Members of the virtual community have consistently asked us for more education and support tools to help value their land for buying and selling their land, " he said. "Also in the future, I foresee future sales agent will prefer to go inworld to a virtual world to receive their training and certifications in lieu of real world classroom training presently offered," he said. "I sat for 100+ hours during my sales agent and broker's licenses combined and it felt like being in detention at times," he said. "The younger generations will take to virtual worlds more easily than the current real estate agent market." "I just hope my fellow real estate instructors will be able to adapt to this trend or else we may see a fresh breed of instructors instructing real estate courses," he said.

Remeta will also become one of the lead sponsors for the Real Estate Metaverse Conference which was just held in Second Life in October. This conference was the first real estate conference to be held in a virtual world successfully over a three day period. Events included educational sessions such as marketing land, land valuation, feng shui methods, and buying and selling land. During Saturday's event, the first ever virtual real estate auction by a licensed auctioneer was held which donated proceeds to the Uthango Social Investments. "We were very honored to have partnered with a wonderful project like the Virtual Africa Project to donate proceeds to housing improvements in South Africa," said Corey. The next Real Estate Metaverse Conference is tentatively scheduled for Spring in 2008.

According to Gartner Research, 80 percent of active Internet users will have some kind of a "second life" in a virtual world by 2011.
